Mr. Marmalade is the story of a precocious four-year-old named Lucy struggling through one desperate evening while her make-believe world crumbles around her. Her imaginary friend, Mr. Marmalade, doesn't have much time for her. Not to mention, he beats up his personal assistant, has a cocaine addiction, and a penchant for pornography. Larry, her only real friend, is the youngest suicide attempt in the history of New Jersey. Mr. Marmalade is a savage black comedy about what it takes to grow up in these difficult times.

BACKSTAGE WEST, April 22, 2009
"...director Justin Waggle moves the action along at the pleasant pace of a sitcom, keeping the stage set for pitch-dark punch lines and a nice portrait of a world gone wrong as seen through the eyes of a lonely child. Nelson's soaring performance beautifully shows Lucy as both neglected child and neglected woman, an innocent toddler plagued by adult-sized desires."
